Thanks to Han and Geri and Paige and Connie and Diane for the happy birthday wishes!!
I posted this story last night in the BJU thread for KP (I mean ... Instructor Fan), and I thought I would share it here, too ....
I'm currently teaching a 3-hour tax class in the mornings in Florence (SC), and then a 4-hour tax class in the evenings in Hartsville.
At the beginning of my evening class, I let it slip that today was my birthday. They all wished me Happy Birthday and even sang the birthday song to me. OK, that was nice. None of them knew it was my birthday prior to that.
Well, when we took a 15-minute break, I was busy doing some instructor duties, and then I went to use the bathroom. When I came out of the bathroom, on my desk was a big candy bar with one of those helium-filled foil balloons tied to it. The ballon says "Happy Birthday" on each side. But there was also a nice group birthday card signed by every student in the class (12 students). So during this 15-minute break, someone had run over to the Wal-Mart close by and bought the candy bar and the balloon and the card, and everyone had signed the card. Then they surprised me with it! I was quite touched by their gesture.

OK, time to go watch for Barb on the Today show.
By the way, on Monday I saw a commercial during the Today show advertising NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics. It was counting down the days to Vancouver (site of the Winter Olympics in February 2010). And what was the background music during this commercial? WWBTF, of course!

Hey DB. That was very nice of your class.  Did you have a good day?? Apart from the "having to work" part -- no-one really wants to work on their birthday do they ....
